After promising a “demonstration of unity” prior to Sunday’s season opener against the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver Doug Baldwin has revealed the Seattle Seahawks’ plans.
Baldwin said in a video posted to Twitter on Saturday the team will “stand and interlock arms in unity” for the national anthem.
“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, and as a team we have decided to stand and interlock arms in unity,” Baldwin said. “We honor those who have fought for the freedom we cherish, and we stand to ensure the riches of freedom and the security of justice for all people. Progress can and will be made only if we stand together.”
Baldwin said Friday the team had discussions all week before devising a plan to “honor the country and flag.”
